Check Out What God is Up To Among Us...

It's time for our monthly Godly Girlfriend Groups Gathering. Even if you aren't meeting with a weekly Girlfriend Group, come and join us this Monday, Feb. 25, from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Selma First Baptist Church! I'm looking forward to what God will be doing this Monday!  

At last month's meeting we had several things planned, but God just stepped in and stole the show - and we loved it.  Arlie Rogers came and spoke to us about his recent missions trip to the Philippines to build a playground for the kids there.  God spoke to us each in amazing ways as Arlie shared what was on his heart.  One of the most memorable messages we received was that "God knows my name."  This message just kept coming up throughout the meeting until we just couldn't ignore it:  He knows MY name.  Wow.

Arlie also recommended the book The Wild Goose Chase, Reclaim the Adventure of Pursuing God  by  Mark Batterson. I have started reading it and it has already made me see my life with a different perspective.  Because of it, I am letting the Lord know that I am willing to go out on a limb for Him and he is leading me as I go.  One result is that one of my students came into my classroom before school last Friday and I got to lead her as she asked Jesus to be her Savior!  I haven't led anyone to the Lord in 40 years, but now there's a new sister in God's family because of my willingness and God taking me up on it!  Wow.

Now who knows what our amazing God will tell us at this meeting, but here's what we have planned:  Michilyn will lead us in a meaningful time of worship and I will be teaching on why and how to live with "Open Empty Hands". Chris will take the mystery out of "White Cross" by explaining what it is all about and what we can do to contribute to this amazing "Huddle Out" opportunity to reach our world with Christ's love.

That's the plan, but I am so looking forward to God stealing the show again!  Come expecting something from Him - you never know what will happen!

Godly Girlfriend Groups 4G Monthly Gathering Monday, Jan. 28

Hey there Girlfriends!  It's time for our January 4G Monthly Gathering of the the Godly Girlfriend Groups!  All women are invited, not just the ones that have been meeting weekly with a Godly Girlfriend Group. We will meet on Monday, Jan. 28 from 6:30 - 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.  So  invite a friend and come on out for an evening of being together in worship, prayer, and learning from God's Word.

There's been a lot happening since our last meeting, I can't wait to hear what the Lord has been doing in your lives.  My talk will be on "Open, Empty Hands" with the scripture from Isaiah 40:3-5.  Bring your Bibles as we dig into God's Word together.  I'll see you there!

November 24 is our monthly 4G Meeting

Hi to all the Girlfriends!

This Monday, Nov. 26, is our monthly Godly Girlfriend Groups Gathering at the church at 6:30 pm. Come a little early, get some refreshments, and share some "girlfriend time" with others. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and am excited to find out what's been happening in your Groups. I will be teaching on "Solving Conflicts in Relationships". So bring your Bibles and books and review your memory verses. I'll see you there!

Our Next Godly Girlfriend Groups Gathering is Monday, Sept., 24!

Good morning girlfriends!

The first GodlyGirlfriendGroupsGathering took place last Monday night!  What a great time we all had!  Here are some of the highlights:

For our "Huddle Up" we came together in a time of worship as Michilyn led us into the presence of God.  I especially loved the "Soaking" song:  a time set apart to let Jesus's love into my soul.  During that song we had options:  just staying in our place meditating or praying;  going over to the white board to write what Jesus is to us; or serving ourselves (or our girlfriends) communion.  It was like a cooling cup of water on a scorching hot day.  Ahhhhh.....worshiping God.  There's nothing like it.

For our "Huddle In",  I taught everyone "How to Memorize Scripture (Without Even Knowing You Did It)".  Believe it or not, everyone did memorize the verse right then and there.  And we still remember it even several days afterwards as it is becoming more and more a part of our lives each day. We got to share our prayer requests with the women at our table and then had a time of prayer, bringing each girlfriend's need before the Lord.  We will continue to pray for them until the next 4G Gathering and can't wait to find out what God did!!

For our "Huddle Out" Chris explained how we are going to have a "Missionary of the Month" to focus on throughout the month and Andrea told us about our first 4G sponsored event:  A Pounding for the Pankratz's on Sept. 30 at 2pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Andrea assured us that no one will be harmed - you bring something to help the Pankratz's refill their pantry and cleaning supplies with things that they had to leave behind in their move.   All the women, young ladies, and girls from the church are invited.

No girlfriend group would be complete without refreshments, so after the meeting we all enjoyed yummy pie and had a delicious time just hanging out with our girlfriends.

Our next 4G Gathering is on Sept 24:  that will be our actual Kickoff.  From then on we will have the Gatherings on  the 4th Monday of the month.  That way your GodlyGirlfriendGroups will meet  each of the first 3 weeks to complete the lesson for that week.  Then all of the 3G groups will come together on the 4th week as the 4G Connection.

Start forming your GodlyGirlfriendGroups.  This would be the time to ask the Lord who He wants you to have in your group.  There are two weeks before the next Gathering, so you can come with your group (or at least a start of your group).  Don't worry if you don't have a group by then, just come anyway.  You actually have until the first week in October to form because that's the first week there will be an assigned lesson for your group to complete.

The Servant Girls (the leadership team) is having fun working, planning, and growing  together as girlfriends and honing the whole Godly Girlfriend plan as the Holy Spirit leads us.  What a blast to just follow Jesus and let Him do what He does so well. The Lord just keeps revealing more and more as we go - widening and broadening and deepening it all - way more than we ever dreamed or imagined!  And we are amazed and humbled that we get to be His servants to bring it all to life!

The day is almost here for the first ever

Godly Girlfriend Groups Gathering! 

I want to invite all of you to come on Monday, Sept. 10 and join us in our very first 4G Connection!  You don't have to have a girlfriend or a group to come.  But since it's more fun with a friend, you might want to invite one or two to come along with you.  If you get there at 6:15pm you can get your Proverbs 31 book and binder (it's free) and some decaf coffee or tea.  Then take a few minutes to get to know some of the other girlfriends that have come.  And remember that we have child care and it's free, too.

We will start right at 6:30pm and "Huddle Up" with a time of worship.  Then for our "Huddle In" time,  I will show everyone a way to memorize Scripture without even knowing you did it!  For real!  It's actually painless and afterwards you will be able to remember the passage because it will become a part of your life.  I double-dog-dare you to try it!

After that I'll be giving an overview of  Godly Girlfriend Groups to let you know how it all works and how to form your own Godly Girlfriend Groups. Then we'll have a time of prayer for each other with an interesting way of getting each person's requests so that we can pray for them during the coming month.

For our "Huddle Out" opportunity, Chris Manley will be giving us info on our "Missionary of the Month" so we will know who she is, what she is doing, and how we can pray for and help her during the month.  Andrea will give us a heads up on our first Godly Girlfriend Groups Event for all the women of the church - which you will NOT want to miss!  (I can't tell you what it is - you have to come and find out).  I can tell you that all the women of all ages in the church are invited and it has to do with Kristi, our new pastor's wife!

We will end our evening at 8:30 but  if you would like stick around you can grab some refreshments and have some time to spend visiting before you head home.  It's an evening that is designed to feed your soul with food and drink from the Lord as he draws us closer together with our girlfriends and with Him.  I really hope to see you there!
